About KARDEŞDER

Our story, mission, vision and values.

Our story

KARDEŞDER began in 2018 as a volunteer movement of young people in Bursa, brought together by a sense of brotherhood. Our first humanitarian assistance was delivered to displaced families in Syria.

In 2020 we were formally registered as Osmangazi Gençlik Hareketi Yardımlaşma ve Kardeşlik Derneği (Osmangazi Youth Movement Solidarity and Brotherhood Association). Since then our work has grown from Africa to Arakan and from Gaza to Afghanistan, and we have published more than 7,500 field reports on kardesder.com.

Our mission

To bring aid, with respect for human dignity, to people shaken by war, oppression, hunger and disaster, wherever in the world they are — and to strengthen a culture of solidarity and responsibility that can carry this work forward.

Our vision

To be an accountable international humanitarian organisation that stands with the oppressed at their hardest moment, and an example of solidarity and brotherhood.

Our Principles

  • Human dignity

We protect the dignity of the people we serve and respect their privacy in photographs and stories.

  • Impartiality

We deliver aid according to need, without discrimination by language, race, nationality or sect.

  • A trust (amanah)

Every donation is a trust we will answer for in this world and the next; it is used for the purpose it was given.

  • Accountability

We document and publish every distribution and are open to our donors' questions.

  • Independence

We have no organic ties to any religious community, political party or political organisation.
